I am a writer who works best when i have a theme to work against. I also often have phrases pop into my head, or my mind will get stuck on a phrase I hear randomly through the day. Some are originals and others are cliches. I write them on little scraps of paper and later I gather them all for freewriting exercises. This is a collection of some evocative phrases I'd like to share with other creative writers out there who want a starting point but don't want a ton of instructions. These phrases can also be a starting point for drawings or other types of visual art.
Today's phrase is
A very special friendship
What feelings or associations do you connect with this phrase? Does it fill you with discomfort or disgust? Do you remember summers at a lake house with your favorite cousin? Don't judge your gut, just write out, draw, or paint whatever you think of for 20 minutes. You may put your writing exercise in the drop box if you want to join a discussion/critique group.
